Grocery shopping in Argentiére

One of the benefits of self-contained holidays is the ability to enjoy familiar foods inexpensively while discovering local foods. Such convenience is particularly important for families with children and those on a budget, stocking up on breakfast, lunch and dinner staples, at a fraction of the price of eating out! Marché U in Argentiére is a terrifically stocked local supermarket enabling you to prepare your own meals while staying at One Le Savoy.

Small but well stocked supermarket

While not a large supermarket, it does stock a wide selection of drinks, fruit and vegetables, breads, pasta, tinned foods, baking products, dairy, sweets, and frozen goods, as well as cleaning, toiletries, baby goods, and other staple items. It also has a great deli with charcuterie and cheese and a locally renowned butcher in house. There’s even a small international food selection for those craving something from wherever they hail. At some times of the year, particularly around winter and Easter, Marché U erects a fresh fish and seafood tent out the front. Simply select your products, pay for them in the shop, and collect with your receipt.

Open times

Marché U in Argentiére is open from 08:-19:30 most days (including public holidays), however this can vary, and Sundays are mornings only – to be on the safe side, we suggest collecting some groceries on your way to get your through to Monday if arriving on a Sunday.

  • Sunday/Dimanche : 08h30 à 12/12h30

You’ll find Marché U at 39 Place du Marché, a short walk up the hill from One Le Savoy, and off the main road.

  • During peak times of the year, especially winter, Marché U can be very busy around opening and between 15:00-19:00 (ie after a day of skiing).
  • Bring your own re-useable shopping bags!

Alternatively, La Raccard epicerie at 338 Rue Charlet Straton (the main road) is open on Sundays and sells bio-organic seasonal produce and staple items.
