It’s was almost spring-like conditions through the latter part of December and early January as the 2018/2019 ski season got underway.
Days in the Mont Blanc valley were something special. While fresh snow was waning around Christmas 2018, we got a few really nice days of skiing both on and off piste in. couple that with several outings – around the trails close to town – Chasolets, behind the apartment, and snow-shoeing around Vallorcine. A particular highlight was snow-shoeing up to Refuge de Loriaz in sublime conditions (see photos below).
During the evenings, we decked our halls with tinsel and cozy lights, filled the apartment with blankets and warmth and delicious aromas of fresh coffee, frothy hot chocolate, slow cooked roasts and friend-welcoming pastas. Indeed we did welcome friends and exchanged stories about antics on the local pistes – both sedate and extreme – laughed and enjoyed company as we listened to jazz and watched the children play on the latest toy for the apartment – an Xbox.
