Christmas at La Remise

Chamonix is full of beautiful restaurants to enjoy for special occasions. One of these is La Remise, a short distance from Argentiére and Chamonix. We decided to treat ourselves at Christmas time, to an unforgettable gastronomic experience.

Bedecked with soft furnishings, warm wood and stone tones, and an open fire, in winter the restaurant is cozy and warm. In lighter and milder weather, the restaurant’s terrace is ideal for catching some rays while enjoying the delicious food.

As for the food – while it’s not an every day dining experience, saving a few extra € in advance is advised to make the most of the menu, which specialises in regional products, dry-aged meat, French techniques with modern British influences movement.

Indeed, the Christmas menu we enjoyed was eclectically inspired fusion with finesse, including velouté of mushroom and artichoke, foie gras ballotine with brioche, sous vide turkey, reblechon and an incredible dessert of vanilla, hazlenut and chocolate parfait tinged with gold. My highlight was the beetroot cured salmon with avocado sorbet and horseradish snow!

The restaurant was full yet discrete, Morgane and John and their team provide friendly atmosphere and service in fluent French and English.

We understand La Remise also offer high-end take away made in house – foie gras, cured salmon, bread and regional cheese platters.

Plenty of parking, though we recommend using public transport. The walk from One Le Savoy in Argentiére is best suited to brighter weather rather than dark winter nights.

Booking ahead highly recommended via the ultra convenient online system on The Fork.
